50lb bass in Raritan Bay

Have you ever caught a 50lb bass in the bay?  I'm not talking down south or out east, but in the Raritan Bay.  Legit weighed 50 lber, not eyeballed.

I have caught a lot of fish in the bay, but haven't hit one over 50.  Some 40+, but most are under 30.  I've had some close ones including 50" fish that only weighed in the 40's.

I have (3) 50 plus pound bass oceanside.as well as put 5 clients on fish over 50 Oceanside.

A 54# caught in VA.

Biggest in the bay was 47#.

Lots of 40-45# fish.

There have been a few legit 50 caught in bay.

Chance of bigger fish being caught now early while they have 10# of eggs in them.

I personally know of a few fish caught 2 seasons ago that were over 60#.

One of those was certified at 64#.

Hear of one every year or so caught but I never seen one. The way the guys are out there keeping all the big bass it won't be long and it will be hard to find 30 lbers

I hear of some from time to time, but not many.

Bucktails caught a 46 yesterday, you bet your ass there  are bigger there right now.

I would even go as far and say a world record striper has migrated through our waters for atleast the past 5 years.

Maybe some out there.

I know they're around other places, just don't see many come from the bay.  A lot of guys will release them anyway, so maybe they don't get weighed anyway.

They do move through .

But as I said fish they are weighing now have 10-12 pounds of eggs in them .

A fish weighing 50 in the bay right now will only be 38/40 pounds in a month once spawned out

My brother and I have fished plenty of days and nights on the bay ,we have caught several in the 40's and 1 that might have been in the low 50's but they were always ocean fish pushing bunker onto the Knoll so they shouldn't count as bay caught. A 25 to 30lbs bass is big for the bay, I used to catch bass that big in the rivers at the back end of the bay on a regular basis but those days are here and gone:-(
