I fish bigger streams so its always down

I did not read any of the responses so apologies if this is redundant.  When the hatchery was in the rainbow trout mode, I always fished downstream, meaning I walked downstream from the stocking point, as I always noted that rainbows tended to run downstream.  Brook and brown trout seemed to stay close to the stocking point.

When fishing a spinner, I always cast upstream and fished it down - panther martin blades were reliable for spinning even when fished downstream in a fast current.  Phoebes fished slightly from upstream to straight across.
