Help getting started

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am new to hunting the area and was hoping to get some helpful spots on where I might be able to get a Tom this spring. I am looking to go in zone 12. I have lived here my whole life but only recently have I come back home from college and started hunting turkey in this area. No need to give away you hidden spot, but helpful suggestions so I can tag one this season would be very much appreciated!

Welcome to the site!   I'd probably first start looking at the WMAs nearby that you can hunt and see if you can locate some turkey sign!   Hopefully some of the turkey hunters on here can chime in on their techniques to locating birds.  Good luck this season!

Hey Thanks, I looked on the sight and actually found two spots that look sort of promising. I tried Assunpink in the fall just to see if I could spot any more then actually hunt them. Sadly I did not see any so I am a little worried about trying again this spring since with work my time out in the beautiful fields is limited.

Welcome!  I only hunt wild turkey in PA, but from what I see, in NJ all you have to do is feed corn to the deer, and the turkeys will come.

Except there is no baiting allowed for turkey hunting in NJ just as is the case in PA.

Is it in the regs that you can't bait deer during turkey season?  It's going to bring them to the area.  Is it the same 450' law?
