Hate Fishing With A Show Off

Zipper

Recommended Posts

We all know that guy, who when he catches a fish has to show off! I used to fish with a nut, who every time he caught a fluke would throw it in his box, then slam the lid on as hard as he could so every boat in the fleet could hear it. The lid was wood and one day he splintered it while slamming it. I laughed at him the rest of the day. What actions of a fishing companion pisses you off?

NET NET NET!!!  Net flying around like a flag on the 4th of July, letting everyone know.  Oh it's a short.  I'm with @hammer4reel, swing em unless you're fishing light tackle and going to break your rod doing it.

See that on the river shad fishing a lot. fish gets netted, goes back in, and then the net takes 10 rinsess in the water and 10 waves of air dry before going back in the holder....

I sent many of g Loomis back for repair swinging fluke. Now that I have to pay for rods it's either net or grab line and flip in unless it's on my heavy gear

Yeah definitely depends on the gear.  I can't swing a 4lb fish on my light tackle spinning setup.  I rarely use that anymore unless fishing the rivers, almost exclusively conventional in the ocean and bays.  I've been fishing with a Shimano SE Teramar for quite a few years now, love that rod.  Lots of back, can fish heavy bucktails and even toss bunker for stripers with it.  Lightweight and thin, but lots of back.  The Loomis, besides being pricey, are quite fragile.  I've known a bunch who have had them break way too easily.

sounds like you need a lesson on swinging fish.

Should never  break a rod if you lift it right.

only way a rod should ever break swinging a fish is if you bring in too much line and then don't set the fish on the deck.

I can swing a 15 pound bluefish with my fluke rods, and they are as light as them come

Nets being used when they aren't necessary always draw a crowd.

When I ran charters I had the biggest net  you could use,

that net stayed in its holder all night.

Guys dont see it move figure your not catching and don't come close t you.

Use that net one time and it catches 10 boats
