Love them fresh eggs! Mine started laying one every day again about 2 weeks ago. I miss it when they go dormant in the winter.

What did you get for egg layers?  I only have 3 left.  I was getting an egg every couple days until a couple weeks ago when all they left me were piles of feathers.

Looking to start chickens with my kids as well.  Ready for chicks....any advice on where to get them??  Visited tractor supply already and going to Shaeffers in Flemington this weekend.  Any online places I should consider?  Thanks

i got 7 black sex links at tractor supply in flemington and i got one rhode island red but they arnt sexed so it could be a hen or roo. king of hoping it is a roo because i and going to get some barred rocks and the two would make black sex links. the red and black sex links are by far the best producers and barred rocks and rir are second in my opinion

i get mine at tractor supply in flemington. you can get different verioty at shafers but they are a little more money but not a ton more. bantums are smaller birds and dont lay as big, many or often. if you are looking for good egg layers you want black sex links, red sex links (aka red stars). other good egg layers are rhode island reds and plymoth barred rocks but make sure they say pullets, if it says strait run it could be %50 %50 if you get hens or roos. i seen people get a doz straight runs and get 10 roos. when the fox start eating them i will come catch them next november
