First Slug Gun

So, i got a Winchester SXP Black Shadow Deer gun a couple weeks ago. Due to Murphy's new laws for private transfers, i had to meet the guy at a dealer. FBI delayed me! But the next day, after hours upon hours of anxiety, i was cleared. I go in to puck it up today. This is my first ever slug gun, in excited to start testing different brands of ammo and see how this thing shoots. If anyone on here had or has a Winchester sxp, i would love to hear from you. My plan is to get a barrel for turkey season sand switch out barrels as needed. Hopefully this 12 guage is the only one I'll need for a while.

Good luck with it. Just a matter of finding the right slugs for it.

I actually pondered the sxp in 20 guage for a slug gun but wanted a field gun as well.  The only reason I didn't was due to the fact they don't have a cantilever barrel for it handling the sxp it seems like a solid gun..  with that said you will want more.  It's nice to have options to match your situation on any hunt..  I had a mossberg  500 only for years and it was my do all.  Now it seems I have a gun for deer Turkey birds Clay's rainy days nice days and the bay lol..

I own 2 other 20s for bird hunting..  wanted the 3rd as I'm looking down the road when my daughter is able to hunt I want me my wife and her to be able to carry the same ammo to make it easier..  I will either pick up a mossberg or 870 combo.

 Yeah. I'm hoping to shoot it today, but i should probably go look at a new truck instead.

Well, even if i can't put a turkey barrel on it,  for the price it's definitely worth it as a good deer gun.

SXP is probably one of if not the best pump action shotguns made today. It does suck that the slug barrel isn’t cantilevered but besides that it is smooth,super fast cycling and reliable. I tried one for ducks and could cycle it as fast as any auto. Good luck with it.
