What’s the reason for early drops and late drops ?

The biologists have theories/reasons for this. The reason bigger deer drop earlier is due to decreased testosterone from breeding. That’s why smaller bucks maintain horns longer.

Apparently daylight entering the eye triggers growth and lowered testerone triggers shedding.  Gotta be more to it than that though. I’ve seen years in early Dec lots of bucks were losing horns, even small ones.

I should add, I’ve still got two small horned bucks in my yard most nights. Latest I’ve ever seen that. I’ve seen one in March but never 2
