For a place local that is fairly inexpensive. The shrimp box in Point Pleasant is awesome.

Most is fresh caught and delivered from the dock right across the canal.

Day scallops are as good as good as it gets

I am not big on beef but when I am in the mood for meat I go to Brasilia on Monroe St. In Newark. Don't get Rodizio. Buy your meat by the slice and ask for sirloin, skirt stake, Pork, and beef rib. You can tell them how you want individual slices cooked. This is a place for meat, don't get stupid and go for seafood.

If you want seafood I would again recommend Newark. This time Sol Mar on Ferry st. I never had a bad meal in this place and every element of each meal is always perfect. They have good variety of seafood with several different kinds of fish, of course  including Bacalhau. Their grilled octopus is fantastic but they cook  it several ways. Good place for lunch. They have great meat dishes as well.
This place is little more formal than Brasilia
