Any way to block specific forum so any activity in this forum does not show on recent topic page?

Getting tired of getting beat up by deadonshot on political posts

Yes you can fully customize your own default landing page (Recent Topics or name it whatever represents your desired configuration)

Go to Activity Streams >> My Activity Streams in the top menu.  Then click the Create New Stream button.

Here is a screenshot of the setup.  From there you can filter on whatever content you want, save the stream, name it, and set it as your default page!

Once it saves, then you can set your default here:

Ok that was easy. Now one more question. How do you edit a newly created stream? I can't find it

Pretty sure you just edit the filters and it will keep it.  To rename the stream you have to click the pencil in the picture I attached above.

I just couldn’t get back to the edit page again. I’ll look again tomorrow, it’s probably right in front of my eyes.

Don't think there is an explicit edit page.  There are filters at the top of the page for the stream you are on at a given time, you can change those filters and it will remember/save them automatically for the current stream.  No need to go into an edit mode to make an update.
