Grandson  went 12-1 this year with the loss at an Tournament in Montgomery,  The video shows the last match of the year that he lost in points after what I believe was a PIN of his opponent and the ref was not in position to see it. What do you think

Was your son's right arm under the shoulder, keeping it off the mat?  Hard to tell from a video.  Looks like the ref was keeping an eye on it.  Sorry your son didn't finish on top in the match.

It all happened fast but no the right arm was not under the shoulder it was under neck, shoulder was up but for a quick moment both were down and ref did not see it. He lost that match5 -4 on a reversal

Looked to me like shoulder was up but he did get back points and reversal. Reaching back is a bad habit. No shame in losing he was giving all he had.  Youth wrestling is a sad world to be #1 in. My son finished 4th in SJ last year. He plays other sports. There are kids that wrestle 7 days a week year round at camps and clubs. Half of them have no choice.  All u can ask is effort and your boy gave that. Congrats.

I agree. My oldest son started in middle school and my youngest started in first grade. The wrestling gets better and more intense once they get into high school. It's dog eat dog.

It's junior wrestling, not NCAA D1. The competency of the officials you get match the level of competition. The ref had no numbers on the back of his shirt which most likely  means he isn't a certified and carded NJ official. However I see no pin in that video
