Hunting from a hangon with gun / Xbow

Anyone hunt from a hang on with a gun or xbow? What do you do to steady your weapon (no shooting rail)? 

Elbow on knee?

Shooting stick?

Just shoot offhand?

Other?

When shooting away from tree, I use my elbow on my knee. When facing the tree, I typically put a xbow / bow arm and use that underneath the xbow.

I had always set up a hang-on so there was a limb on one side of me, or both sides, so I had something to lean against while sitting or standing to steady myself.

Try using an adjustable shooting stick.  I put the end into a loosely tied boot or inside top of muck boot.  Works perfectly for crossbow and you can hold and wait for a shot for a long time.

You can buy shooting rails that strap to the tree.

The Ten Point Steddy Eddy was easily adaptable to my PSE Fang and my Stryker Katana. Highly recommend for the xbow

For both crossbow and firearm I use Shooting rails that strap on to the tree. They work well but they’re not rock solid, there is a bit of downward movement that you need to be aware of and use it accordingly.

I use a triple bow hanger. Screw into tree at what ever height you need and wrap around in front of you.

Because of a bad shoulder I've gone to the crossbow. This is what I use in all my stands now
