Yup right now there is a lot of finger pointing. The worse part is we staked it out, all they had to do is put it on top of our points. Apparently they knocked a couple points out but couldn't figure out how to pull 90's off the other points and just Wong it. Unbelievable

5hit happens on the job, especially with layout. Most operators appear to be aiming for it. 
However, good mason would need only two points set by the surveyor, and plans, to set all corners himself. Its is not rocket science, simple geometry.
We usually higher outside surveyor for our work but I do tons of it myself. Last minute layout or when something gets destroyed. Surveying business changed by technology. When I was a party chief in early 80s, the EDM was just invented, it took two or before EDM 3 guys to do layout. Now one guy does it all.

One guy with a Trimble doesn’t need anything else to be within a 1/4”
