Anyone else getting sick of paying top dollar for a much lesser product than years ago

Remember how long a pair of Sorels used to last? Not anymore. For rubber boots today I only buy Lacrosse Burley and pac type it’s Kamik. Both seem to last longer than anything else and the Kamik’s are half the price of most

I had a pair of Cabela's Zoned Comfort Trac 1200g boots. I think it was at about the year and a half mark of me owning them that the inside seam of the material on the *inside* of the heel ripped open and tore the insulation off at the heel. It eventually wore off until my heel was in direct contact with the rubber before I noticed it.

Had lifetime warranty so I returned them. They didn't have any more in stock, and because turkey season was coming up (this was last April), they offered to give me a pair of Lacrosse Alphaburly Pro 1600g boots - they were about twice as expensive as the boots I replaced, so I can't complain, but they don't have a lifetime warranty like Cabela's own named boots. So far so good with the Lacrosse, but I haven't had them for a year yet - will be a year in April. We'll see how they continue to hold up after turkey season and pass the warranty expiration date (that's usually when things fall apart). These are my everyday hunting boots, so I wear them a lot.

Jeez. Almost bought them. Stayed with the Lacrosse burlys cuz I got 18 yrs out of my old ones.....but even those don't seem to be made like they used to....i think I got a hole in em from briars after bunny huntin....my old ones never leaked under same conditions and cover.

Mine are around 15 years old, sad to hear the new ones you got don’t seem as well made.

I think it’s planned obsolescence, wear faster... sell more :grrr:

I had a pair of Irish Setter boots that I bought at Cabelas. They were goretex & leather. Second season I wore them in the snow and wet and they leaked.

I called Red Wing and spoke to a customer service rep and she said to mail them in with a letter explaining which I did.

She called me back shortly after they received them saying they were defective and wanted to know if I wanted replacement boots or a refund.

I've worn the replacement (better than the ones I initially bought at Cabelas) and they are fine.

I thought, growing old would take longer !

I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods.  The rest I just wasted.

Interesting. I owned a pair of muck Boots for about 8 years. I hunted, fished, camped, trapped, canoed all with that one pair.

They finally broke down(got my money worth)

Then bought another pair. After one hunting season. They tore a hole in the side from a dull stick. I repaired it with aqua seal. Now a year later and the sole is peeling off the left boot.

Kamik make a nice pull on boot too. My go to boot. I like them better than lacrosse because the are 12" high. Dont always need 18" high boots. Wear my lacrosse only when hunting swamps.
