Dominant Eye

Was watching a hunting show last night, and took the eye dominant test. I've never put any thought into this. Low and behold, I am left eye dominant but am right handed. I shoot my crossbow and reg bow right handed. Curious if anyone changes to lefty or vice versa. To.me, it would be very awkward

Definitely stick with what works.  My daughter is left eye dominant and right handed.  She was a horrible shot and always complaining that she couldn't get a sight picture.  When we figured it out and switched her to lefty, her shooting improved dramatically.  But, again, she was just starting out....you've probable already compensated after years of shooting rightly.  

She doesn't shoot a bow.  The holding of the gun lefty did take a little getting used to, but it seems pretty natural now.

Started out hunting and shooting right handed, then found out about 6-8 yrs ago I was actually left eye dominant. Tried shooting some skeet lefty and was fine breaking targets but it was so awkward for me left handed especially if I used a pump gun I couldn't stand it !

Lefty but right eye dominant. Shoot long guns righty, golf righty, bowl lefty, hold pistol with left hand, played baseball lefty.... just kind of did what works. Found out when I was 9 when my dad took me to a turkey shoot I really couldn’t hit the plate worth a crap.

Like you, I'm right handed and left eye dominant. I shoot guns, bows, and xbows lefty. But I was fortunate in that my eye dominance was determined when I was in middle school so I've grown up shooting lefty.

I am also afflicted with this malady always shot with left eye closed,worked for a lot of years ,then I started to miss  birds I shouldn’t have,guess I was involuntary opening left eye! Solved the problem by placing small patch on left lens on glasses blocking bead for that eye,easy to get used to works like a charm! Didn’t have problem with the bow just the shotgun!

also left eye dominate, but I shoot righty. Bow, crossbow, rifle,shotguns and hand guns. The bow, crossbow and rifle I shoot left eye closed. Shotgun and hand gun...both eyes open. The handgun I turn my head slightly right. No issues, I am to set in my ways to change.

I’m left handed , but shoot right handed because I’m right eye dominant.

I think it’s great because my strong arm is holding the bow .

 

IMO unless your going to always close one eye you should switch to using your dominant eye.

Hmmmm. I'm pretty sure I shoot the crossbow and the Matthews w my left eye closed

Been doing it for over 40’years, simply close your left eye, problem solved.

I close both eyes when I shoot, been working so far

I'm right handed and left eye dominant.  I shoot long guns and crossbow left handed. Pistols right handed using left eye.
