Stag, but I am left handed. I am thinking about also adding a Rockriver left-handed one to the fleet.

Can't go wrong with a bushmaster, stag, rock river, etc... Depends what model you want and how much you wanna spend. I have a bushmaster xm15. I put a quad rail on it, magpul flip up rear sight, and a red dot so far lol. It's my second bushmaster and they both perform great.

My buddy is selling his DPMS lower with rifle stock. Are you NJ guys allowed to build them?

I'm thinking along the lines of getting a couple complete uppers built by DTECH, but not sure what lower I want yet.  His reputation is very good, and I've seen a number of guys on the internet praising the craftsmanship and accuracy of his barrels.

Since it's my first I could certainly use some input on the pros/cons of the various ones out there!

I saw AR and thought you meant Antler Restrictions and then I realized in jersey ALOT of guys don't like them because how the hell will they get  there yearly spike?

All of ours are Colt models Ar15-A3 with the light barrels....We do still have some M-16 also with the selectors switches for full and semi

yes        Whichever company comes in with the best deal gets the contract!!!    I think we have a couple hundred now

I can say though that right out of the box I tried them at 50 yards and we were getting 3 inch groups with a peep and no adjustment yet.

One of the best deals going right now is the Smith and Wesson M&P AR.

 

Accuracy and mil spec. I believe.

 

A huge thing to pay attention to is barrel twist.

 

Barrel twist will determine bullet grain. The more twist the heavier bullet.

 

I am not an AR expert but I have read a lot.

 

What do you intent to do with this AR?

This first AR build is actually going to be the .17 Remington I'm after. So it will be light bullets, 25 and 30 grain.

Not sure how to determine what a good fit is for a lower though, I need to research some more for sure.

I'm pretty flexible price wise, always love a deal, but I don't mind paying a little more if the functionality, reliability, and durability of the lower is worthwhile.

I believe there are only a few actual manufactures of forged lowers, I could be wrong. I think some make them and then other slap their names on them.
