I have a question regarding the legality of the .22 caliber Henry lever action (and I know I must have missed something when I read the NJ law).

The rifle can hold up to 21 rounds of .22 shorts. Isn't the max allowed in NJ 15 rounds? What makes this rifle legal here?

I am interested in picking one up, so I was reading the law on it and it seems to qualify as a gun that has a "large capacity magazine."

Any thoughts?

Honestly, call Nappan or another lawyer.  Get legal advice from a lawyer not a forum.  Yes, it's a good place to start, but NJ gun laws are confusing, and it sounds better when you tell a judge that you consulted an attorney.  Just sayin'...

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Haskell, just getting pointed in the right direction.

I reread the law and realized I missed the fact that it applies to semi automatic rifles only. A lever action doesn't meet that definition. Also, it makes no difference if the mag is detachable.

This is my interpretation only, but I do play a lawyer on forums (and once in a while at work, when they don't yell at me for doing it...lol).
