Does anyone know where to take decoys to be appraised? A friend of mine has a few that were gifted to his father by Charles Seidel and he was interested in learning about them.

Thanks.

The guy at carvings decoy and wildlife gallery put me in touch with frank and frank auctions in howell. Both seam like really nice guys. Thanks again everyone.

The guy in Frenchtown caters to the NYC people that come out for the weekend to Frenchtownm, New Hope & Lambertville.

If your friend is not in a rush the Ocean County Decoy & Gunning Show in Tuckerton in September would be the place to go and see others and make contact with local carvers and dealers not the commercial ones. Many of these dealers and carvers will buy or take decoys on consignment as they participate in lots of shows.  I used a guy like this, who unfortunately has died, to liquidate over 120 decoys and shore birds for my Uncles estate about 5 years ago.  Met him down there at the Tuckerton show.

Here is another place to start. https://njdecoycollectors.com

I thought, growing old would take longer !

I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods.  The rest I just wasted.
