Trouble with copy/paste on site?

Question

Posted

I've seen two posts where users are having trouble copying and pasting on the site right now.

Let's see if we can get it figured out.

Please provide your system info when you experience the problem:

- Computer vs mobile

- Operating system and version (Windows, Mac, or mobile OS)

Is copy and paste completely not working at all? Or is it pasting something unexpected?

OK, BTE was having this issue and ran through it with me.  Looks like it's isolated to Internet Explorer.  I was just able to reproduce it.

The only workaround found so far is to hit that "lightswitch" on the top left of the screen (turns the editor on and off).

With it "off" (all other buttons will turn grey) you can then hit CTRL+V to paste and it will work.

I'll keep digging to see if I can find the cause.  Might be an update recently with Windows and IE.

Apparently this is an IE11 issue?  Something they released which is impacting copy&paste and maybe quoting.

I can try to add a fix for it, but if they do another update...it might come back.

Will try out the fix shortly.

Man I hate IE and Microsoft.

OK I think it's fixed.  Close your IE browser entirely and re-open it.  You may have to clear your IE cache, but not sure.

Let me know if you still have issues.

Haha my Mac works fine too!

Did someone mention micro screwdrivers?

I have one (actually two) of these and am not ashamed to admit it.  It's also known as the "Liberator Kit", because it has liberated the internals of many different gadgets.  If it's held together with screws, this will get you in.

I don't have a pocket protector, but I should probably get one.  I started using my fountain pen again, and that's a recipe for turning a good shirt into a corporate tie-dye experiment.
