Down here in SJ where I work we had a mature doe get hit this week during the day and last night I saw 4 bucks running around the neighborhood a couple nice ones.

im thinking a 3rd rut, a guy in town feeds the deer across from his house and usually a heard of deer are alaways at his feed site you can see from the road but I didn’t see any deer there this week which has me thinking the bucks are pushing doe again

I'd have to drive the roads all day up here just to find one.  A lot of areas in central jersey aren't open to hunting compared to up north, here.  More deer, more road kills.  They will be moving more at night now to find food, and going for the salted grasses along the roads.

I had slammer in my yard a few nights ago chasing a yearly.. He was dodging her left and right.. Next morning a fresh scrape in the ground..

Still caring full head gear..  Never seen a rut this late.. Biologist say the cold and timing is everything with yearly doe..

What I find puzzling is the fact that after traveling back and forth down the 78 west to 31 south to Flemington since forever I might have seen 3 road kills and few blood spots. I'm wondering if this over population evolved to stay away from the road or the state and county crews are that fast in removing them.. There was a time in the fall when these roads looked like a battle zone.
