Missing Pension Time

Recommended Posts

Last week a fellow officer went to pension building to submit his retirement paperwork, they told him he has 3 months of deadtime from 1995, so he needs to work another 3 months.

So that got me to check my account, and sure enough I'm missing 2 months, my dept. claims I had deadtime, but I have proof I was granted backpay, and all deductions including pension was paid, why it wasn't updated for nearly 2 years, they couldn't give me a answer......it should be updated on there end by next week and I should get a letter stating  that, and it should show on my online account by the end of February when the system updates, but being a public worker I won't believe it till it's done and I see it first hand

Anyone who thinks the government will take care of them, look at the American Indian.

My son has been waiting a couple years just to get backpay from an increase in wages he didn't receive.  Had to fight for it, and got a notice months ago the county would pay it, but still hasn't seen it.  My union jerked me around, too, after I retired.  Took them 4 years to adjust my benefits from my last years contributions.  You have to watch your back and keep all records in order.  They're all quick to count what they take, and slow to pay, often with mistakes only in their favor.

Normal backpay time span is 4 months, it took me 1-1/2 years.....they had every excuse in the book to take their time,  I had a court order, which didn't matter to the state...until one day I went directly into the HR office and was yelling racism,  two days later check was in my hands

Do you guys have a mandatory retirement age?

No.....20 years with 50% pension no medical,  or 25 years with 65% pension with medical and that is what I'm doing. 1% added to pension for each year after 25 years up to 30 years with 70% pension with medical
