Matty Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 http://www.thewrap.com/duck-dynasty-phil-robertson-ae-suspended Not sure how many of you are a fan of "Duck Dynasty:", but I will admit that I am a huge fan. I simply connect with this family, in their beliefs and faith, their beards and the hunting. LOL....and they're pretty darn funny too. Judging by the popularity of the show, I'm not the only fan. So, with this most recent news, I have to vent. I am so sick and tired of the politically correct world we are forced to live in. You can't disagree with anyone on what they do, or suddenly you're a "hater" or "anti" this and that. These small groups use this as a power to bully the majority into having to support whatever it is they do. Phil is being reprimanded for simply spreading the word for which he believes so strongly in, letting people know they are sinning according to the Bible! Not Phils book, the BIBLE! GQ asked a question and he answered honestly. So why was no one up in arms that he called "drunks" sinners in the same breath? So according to the media, it's ok to let people suffering from alcohol abuse know they are sinners and they need to repent, but tell the gays they are sinning and suddenly you're a terrible person. I just don't get that. My maternal Grandmas family had a lot of family members that suffered from alcohol abuse and most died very young because of it. They were all very nice people though and didn't hurt others, they simply had a problem, a problem that is considered a sin according to the bible. They were all religious, so they knew they were sinning but couldn't help it. Our responsibility as followers of Jesus, or just as good people is to let them know that they have a problem. Now adays though, you're supposed to shut up and pretend that everything is OK. I also want to make it clear that I personally have no hatred towards homosexuals or anyone. I don't believe Phil Robertson does either, although he might hate Yuppies. I feel as though if you're not hurting others, you're likely fine in whatever it is you do here on Earth. However, I don't have to like, condone or support homosexuality or anything else that I find offensive or disgusting. I had an Uncle that was gay and he died from AIDS, I didn't like his homosexual behavior, but still loved him as a person. And such a wonderfully nice person he was, his sexuality had nothing to do with his personality. Phil is just spreading the word of God as written in the Bible. He's simply a messenger. So with this suspension, I believe that A&E has shot the messenger for a problem they have with the Bible, or God, not Phil Robertson. Because of that, I can no longer support A&E, but will continue to support the Robertson Family. I support them even though I slightly disagree with what Phil said. The way I have interpreted it is that: Even if these people sin, homosexuals, drunks, etc. As long as they accept Jesus as their savior, they are written in the Lambs book of life. They will be judged for their sins as will we all, and we ALL sin, but if they repent and have faith in the Lord, they are saved. No one that Loves Jesus should purposefully sin, but Jesus died on the cross so that as long as you believe in him, you will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. And because I do genuinely love the Robertson family a quick reminder to them on all the wealth they may have acquired. I don't know their plans for their wealth and I see that Phil and Kay still live very meagerly, so just a friendly reminder to them. Matthew 19: 23-24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. Haskell_Hunter Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 "A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all-knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity. "Will people ever be wise enough to refuse to follow bad leaders or to take away the freedom of other people? "What is going on in the Un-American Activities Committee worries me primarily because little people have become frightened and we find ourselves living in the atmosphere of a police state, where people close doors before they state what they think or look over their shoulders apprehensively before they express an opinion. In our country we must trust the people to hear and see both the good and the bad and to choose the good." All from Eleanor Roosevelt, and the wisdom still resonates. "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and little minds discuss people." Possibly too from Roosevelt, but didn't want to give her credit where it may not be due. PV216 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Very well said matty "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson
Hatchet Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I agree 100% ! I'm a big fan of DD , I take it for what it is strickly entertainment just like pro wrestling lol !Religion was never a big part of my family, therefore it not a big part of mine. I do believe in the law of nature n homosexuality goes against that law! I will never be forced to believe in something that goes against that law! Just because a handful say I should . I say the heck with them! Phil was asked a ? N that was what do you believe is a sin n he started out with homosexuality , beastiality , n then go from there outward ! He did not say a thing derogatory towards them just that he believes n the What the bible says ! It's a joke n I will stand with him n write my fair share of letters! Matty 1 You add camo to anything, it immediately becomes cool.
Matty Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Hatchet, I'm not one to force religion on others as I think everyone has to find things on their own, regardless of what they believe or don't believe. However, I will say that I was not extremely religious growing up either. I mean my family went to church when I was younger and I went to CCD, but honestly I had some terrible experiences with snooty people that were not Godly back then. Sure they went to Church, but they couldn't have been more judgmental and righteous than they were. I was kind of turned off from the Church because of that. It wasn't until more recently in life, as I laid on a cold hospital table having a scan done that I realized I should take religion more seriously again. I laid there and was pretty sure I was going to die. It was terribly upsetting, but when I started thinking about God and Jesus, a very comforting peace came over me and I began to realize how important He is in my life. Since then I've studied the Bible much more seriously and strive for a relationship with God that leaves me always feeling at peace. (well usually) lol Like I said, I don't expect to change your mind or anyone elses for that matter, but I figured I'd offer up some information that has helped me greatly. Other than studying the Bible, I also listen to Dr. Charles Stanley very frequently. He just has a way of putting things in terms that really helps me. I think he's wonderful! I won't ask that you to look into him, or get back to me about how great his preaching is or that you are now greatly religious. lol... All I want do is put the information out there so that perhaps some day you or someone else can decide to listen to Charles Stanley (or his son Andy Stanley) or study the Bible more closely. I can do no more and should do no less. I will say though, Charles Stanley's messages are often so good, that even if you aren't religious, they can simply help you enjoy life and get more out of it. My mother turned me towards him and I'm very grateful for it. Just figured I'd give that opportunity to others as well. Merry Christmas all! “I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

BowhunterNJ Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Wow Hatchet, that's tragic, so sorry for all of your losses!
Matty Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 I'm so sorry for all of your loss. Very sad. I will say that it may not seem as though God's listening, but we can't know the reasons for the trials and tribulations He places in front of us, only that we always emerge stronger and that He does hold our hands or carry us through them. I know it probably doesn't seem that way when the darkness of loss seems to envelop you. My family too has suffered some tragic losses over the years, and while none were as close to me as my parents or brothers, we lost my cousin Teague when he was just two years old, my Uncle Bill was murdered while walking home from work for the money in his pockets when he was only 43 years old. My uncle Art and my Aunt Donna both lost their battles with brain cancer too. Cancer is terrible and has certainly taken it's toll on our family too. The list goes on and on and I'm not trying to compare loss, as close as I was with all of these family members, I still don't think they ever struck me as hard as my brothers passing would or my parents, I simply wanted to let you know you're not alone. I watched my father, who is totally blind deal with the loss of three of his brothers and his sister and then his parents all in a very short time. He too lost his faith for a bit and struggles to this day at times. From seeing that, I do have an understanding of where you're coming from. Again, very sorry for all the loss you've endured. Heartbreaking. Hatchet 1 “I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have.
