Braid to Mono knots

think some guys might find the actual knot strength of their preffered knots is lower than expected.

goes to show drag settings can be really important.

in fishing where your pushing the drag to the extremes you may want to chose your knot wisely

Interesting...Albright has been my go to....no problems.....but may try a new one.

Hammer what is your go to?

I use the PR knot on most everything for the past ten Years .

Its easier to tie than it looks , and IF you use a second person to make the wraps on the whip finish its easier yet.

I have used most of the others listed at times, but found when on a fast drift fluking on a snag the others failed.

the Pr knot would just about stop the boat as though anchored until one of the mono knots failed at the bucktail

Fg knot site:youtube.com

This is best demonstration I found. For improved fg knot go to www.onthewater.com and search improved fg knot. Jack Sprengel does a nice demo.

PR is faster to tie than an FG and its break strength is 17% higher.

There are also some slick braids that will not hold using an FG  such as Berkley Nano.

I have yet to find any braid that doesn't work with the PR .

hardest part is finding a bobbin at a reasonable price.

Bone freak, once you tie it for awhile it gets really easy.

I can tie it in about the same time as most of the other knots many guys are using.

what I have found is most times I only have to tie it once at home.

al my breakage is  by the terminal tackle end.

im using about a 12' top shot of mono on everything .

there are a few ways to finish the knot, the way he did it here is more complicated than it needs to be.

a 14  turn whip finish is all that's necessary on 30-50 pound.

I use 21 turns on lighter line
