robnj Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 it says in zone set 0 for muzzy that the season falls on 21-24. why would the season be open if there is no sunday gun hunting. if it is open can I take my bow since I have my bow and muzzy/rifle/permit tags?
Matty Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 The way I understood it, was that you can only "hunt down" (use a bow instead of a gun) during 6-day. I could be wrong, but I don't believe you can use a bow in place of a firearm during any permit firearm seasons. I think they just got lazy in removing the date for Sunday, assuming firearm hunters know they can't hunt on Sunday. You could always ask someone at the division though, even a simple email almost always elicits a quick and accurate response from Paul Tarlowe on matters such as this. Let us know if you find out differently. “I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

robnj Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Did a little research. Only 6 day can you downgrade the weapon like Matty said.

BowhunterNJ Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Ah yeah, I don't think you can use a bow during permit ML or permit shotgun. Your zone has to have an open permit bow season and any kill is part of that limit, not the permit gun season limits.
