My new BFF

Recommended Posts

Meet Conrad, our African Grey parrot. He's our newest rescue pet. We picked him up a month ago just outside of Philly and he's one cool dude. He's 23yr's old and was owned by an older couple from Florida. Not sure what happened but he has become attached to me as they usually pick their "favorite". Luckly my wife and son can handle him but typically its him and I hanging out in the man cave.

His vocalizations consist of ....hello, goodbye, kissing noises, bluetooth speaker connections, oven reaching temp, the sound a beer makes pouring into a glass:up:

and a creepy clown voice "nighty, night". We're still working on Go Birds.

I had an amazon parrot a LONG TIME AGO, after he drew blood I got rid of  him and found dogs much easier to train.

Good luck with him !! I had a rescue several years back great bird , extremely intelligent and really only bonds with one person (it wasn’t me by the way) . They can be messy but like anything in life , if you love it you’ll tolerate it. Enjoy your new BFF .

My parents had Parrots and Conures when I was growing up and I absolutely hated them.  Sure they were "cool" for a few minutes because they could repeat a few words, but god were they awfully loud and insanely messy.   They woke up at sunrise every morning, despite being covered.  They thrashed around and threw fruit and seeds everywhere and we had to vacuum constantly.  To me, the trade off wasn't worth the misery.

But, to each their own.  They are really amazing animals.  I just prefer to see them on TV in the rainforest.
