Hatchet Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 In z19 off to a rough start . First time ever using a blind , I get to it this morning n apareny the top hub won't hold 6" of wet snow ! Well finally got it straightened out but now wet .lol ! You add camo to anything, it immediately becomes cool.
BHC Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The freezing rain stopped but my gun and treestand is coated in ice. No game seen by us no shots heard
Hatchet Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Had 2 spikes earlier n 5 point just left , You add camo to anything, it immediately becomes cool.
Axiom Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Still hunted my way down about a mile in where, despite the crunchy snow, i somehow managed to sneak up on a nice doe.. Had a good shot but let it run off.. no way im'a drag a dime a dozen doe over a mile.. Hatchet 1
Matty Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Good luck. I should be able to go this afternoon, but haven't decided on the bow for deer yet, or the gun for bears. “I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

Bucksnbows Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Exceptionally quiet up on the mountain in Sparta today so far. No game and no hunters moving around. Not one of our crew even saw a doe or fox let alone a nice buck or bear. But they weren't spooked with thousands of hunters trampling through the forest either. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
BHC Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Saw a doe with her BB at 1100 at 1400 damn fog rolled in I couldn't see past 25 yds I got out
Hatchet Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Ended up a good day! Had the 3 buck in the morn then had 5 doe come in the afternoon . Not sure if I'll get out the rest of the week but this was the best 6 day opener for me in a few years ! Think I could learn to like hunt'n from a blind. You add camo to anything, it immediately becomes cool.
Axiom Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Think I could learn to like hunt'n from a blind. I've taken alot more deer from a GB than from a tree stand... But, i like the tree stand better.. more visibility..
Axiom Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 lol with the snow you can put her on a sled and turn a drag into a little cardio.... Hey man i get enough cardio just with the up and down hill walk... If i'm going to bust my a$$ dragging a deer that far its gonna have to be a trophy..
