My daughter hates shooting any guns more powerful than a .22 or pellet gun but told me the other day she wants to start crossbow hunting for deer after trying a loaner I have here at the house.  The one I am borrowing is a Ten Point Titan Extreme complete with cocking crank.  Nice feature for my 13 year old who is not a physical kid and needs an easy loading crossbow.

What brands are out that she can easily cock back and shoot?  I don't plan to spend more than $1,000 and hopefully much less, but the ease of cocking the bow is important for her.  Ideas and recommendations?  I plan to go back to my compound as soon as my cardiologist clears me, but I want her to get a crossbow so we can hunt together next fall.

Brian, stop by Simon Peter and see Rich or Tommy. They have had some consignment crossbows there in the past.

I bought a used Ten Point crossbow from them a few years back for about 30% less than new.

Take a look at Barnett Recruit. its a great crossbow for a small frame shooter or youth hunter. I have one. I'm a big guy but I went with the Recruit because for the price and size you get a good crossbow that shoots 300 fps. It has an adjustable stock and can also have a cranking device installed for a youth to be able to draw it back.

I will most likely upgrade to something in the 350 to 400 fps range in a year or two but this was a great purchase to get me back into bow hunting at an affordable price.
