I am sure he thought he was in the right and allowed one in each zone. I am also sure he is going to find out he was wrong tomorrow if he hasn't already.

Sounds like it could be a honest mistake.  I would think he would have been smarter if he was a poacher.  Who in their right mind would post on social media that he illegally harvested two bucks. Give the guy the  benefit of the doubt.  Hammering him might not be the best solution.  Just my opinion.

I get the digest can be confusing to new hunters/readers but it states, and I copy exact from the digest “the Antlered Buck Permit is valid for a ONE TIME USE in only ONE of the corresponding zones for that season. Properly licensed hunters are still limited to ONE antlered buck per season”.  Not to beat a dead horse but I look at a mistake is more like the guy who shot the dog a few years back. Low light conditions, heat of the moment, etc (not justifying his actions) but that’s more of an honest mistake. Pay the fines, accept what happens and move on. Not reading the first paragraph of your set regulations in the digest is not a mistake, that’s ignorance in my eyes.

Shooting a dog is way different than shooting 2 bucks from different zones.

The game laws are so confusing a couple years ago we had to get clarification from the wardens on what the law was regarding blaze hat. You asked one warden you got one story and you asked another and you got something different.

Teach our own especially for easy mistake.

Dude was obviously confused. I don't have Facebook, but quick Googling, I think that guy lives in my town and hunts a zone I do :whatever: Damn - it's not that hard - just read the !@#$ digest - in his picture, I think that's an open digest in the background!

What he needs to do now is report it and fall on the mercy of a CO. (then again, if he was confused, he probably attempted to register the second one with his buck tag and DFW already flagged it and is preparing to give him a visit tomorrow already). If it's his first offense, it's just a fine ($100 - $500 according to Digest page 41 - I bet he'll be reading the digest cover-to-cover now :) )

Hope it's not his second offense in the past five years - up to $1000 fine and his hunting privileges taken away for the next 2 years if it is.
