Curious to thoughts on shooting through the mesh or leaving an opening? It’s my first time blind hunting this year and I’ve had deer run right up to me twice while in my blind. Hubby’s opinion is he doesn’t want anything coming between his broad head and a deer’s body. Just curious to those who have more experience. TIA

I have been hunting out of blinds for a long time. I learned that leaving your shooting windows open is best. The critters don't care and just watch your movment if you have them close and stay towards the back corners where it is most dark.  Also, you never have to worry about boradheads going through mesh, especially if your shooting expandables. I have had deer stick their nose inside my blinds and never know I was there even when there was 2 of us in the blind. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Been hunting out of a blind for the last several years  with the crossbow.  My blind has two windows, a small one and a large one. I keep the small one open just enough to allow  a shot to be taken. I also attach the screen on two sides so it can hang freely and keep the bugs out. When I see a deer, I lift the side that’s not attached and attach it to the upper corner so the shot is not obstructed by the mesh.  This has worked out very well for me. This is the end result after a deer comes in. 144545B4-3890-4CA0-9A62-0E368A7038D8.thumb.jpeg.e2db5b21a89e9b3f75b2bed649c4fff5.jpeg

I use a decent sized blind and just keep the front window open sometimes to try to keep out the bugs or for a little more cover I bring the mesh up from the bottom of the window a few inches. As Shootstraight said try and get yourself into a back corner throw on a black long sleeve shirt black face mask and hat and nothing will see you in that blind. Good luck enjoy!!

I agree with your Hubby.

Leave the window open so the deer are used to it.

Window open and wear black, stay to the back of the blind and all should be good. Shooting through the mess won't bother the arrow/bolt 95% but you never know. There's always that small chance something will happen going through it. Why take the chance!!!

Thank you everyone!!! I went out Tuesday in it and had the window open... spiker ran right up to me and I was in the back corner, wearing all black with black face paint trying not to move.... two does were in the field also and were a bit farther away. I almost had a shot at him but the two does ran away so he followed. From what I explained to my husband about how they were moving in the field, it seems pre rut activity is starting.

These were my windows I had. I think they were open a lot, but This was the minimum for my arrow to be able to get out without clipping it.

Thank you everyone for your comments
