Guns for deer hunting

So I just very recently obtained my firearms ID card. I have no clue where to even start. I don’t know what to buy. I’m a total greenhorn when it comes to gun hunting. I have gone clay shooting, and shot 9mm and .22’s before just not often. Im obviously going to have to go back to do the hunter ed for firearms and didn’t plan on gun hunting this season. I was considering joining the cherry ridge range.  Any help is much appreciated! If anyone had some time to talk just Pm me and I can send my phone number.

You have to decide what works best for you. I hunt with a rifled deer gun/slugs and another gun with buckshot depending on what stand I am in and how long I anticipate shots to be. If you use the right choke/ammo combination, buckshot can be very effective. If your shots are going to be 50+ yards, use a slug gun. If your shots will be under 50, use buckshot. Remember, you must pattern your buckshot to get at least 4-5 pellets in a 9" circle at 40 yds. Of course, your slug gun must be zeroed in also.

Yeah that’s what I mean, I have no clue about any of this. Thankyou!

Go to a range and rent a ton of guns.  Shoot as many as you can.  The one you shoot the best is the gun you should use.

I'm sure there are folks that'll meet up with you to shoot.  If you do join Cherry Ridge, I'll meet you up there with some guns to shoot.  Any excuse to go shoot is good with me.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
