Anyone getting pop up adds here?

Kype

Question

Just wondering Because every post I click on or scroll down I get pop up adds everywhere. I am using my cell phone at the moment. I have Volvo adds, gambling adds, and cell phone adds. I have them popping up as I write this post.

So now we have banners at the top, weird block adds between posts and banners at the bottom. Looks like we're following NJHs lead. I guess business is business and it's all about the almighty $$$, shame.

What's a shame is that you actually think that.  I'm guessing you haven't read anything I've ever written regarding the ads (posted here) or this site as a whole where the members are my #1 priority.  This site isn't and never has been a means to get rich off the users, fact is I've spent a good deal of money to make this site with zero revenue from it until the very limited recent ads were put in place a few months ago and they aren't even enough to pay for the operating costs of the site.  On top of it, that ad provider I used ended that service for all sites using it, so I had to explore other options.  Beyond ads, there are options to earn revenue in order to pay for things here while keeping the site enjoyable for the members OR I could just continue eating the costs at a net negative as I have been but that is getting more difficult as the popularity grows and the costs to run the site increases.  I'm facing a 3-4 fold increase from my host due to the increased traffic (and that's a GOOD thing) which requires bucking up or researching an alternate host that can support the demand at a better price point AND going through an entire site migration to do it.  But alas, I do need to find a way to pay the bills on the site, and I am all ears for recommendations from the members.  Ads are an means to generate revenue without members needing to incur any burden beyond navigating around them.  I offer FREE sponsorship to local businesses (does NJH do that?), I do not filter any product content from any members or sponsors or businesses relating to the hunting and fishing industry (does NJH and it's owners do that?), I am constantly on this site polling member feedback to make this site as good as I can for you all (does NJH and it's owners do that?), myself and a couple members run contests here (and I eat the expense of Paypal fees for that while donating on top of it, many members eat shipping costs of donations, etc) to give the members something fun to do during the seasons (does NJH and it's owners do that?).  This site isn't an income stream for me, it's not why I do it, I do it to give you guys all a place to enjoy and share your hunting and fishing experiences.

I've disabled the ads until I can talk things over with the new ad provider and determine a better direction.  I do appreciate the constructive criticism from the members, it is important in order to make this site great for you guys and finding a balance in the options for garnering some revenue to pay for it.  More to come as I figure a better approach out.

Yeah this will be a big feel out process to see what's "too much" versus what the members can live with.  Hopefully it's not too overwhelming at first, but give it a bit to adjust...you'll know inside a few days to a week what you guys feel just has to go because it's too much of a pain to deal with.
