My first sit of the season yesterday morning, humid and mosquitoes were awful.  I had deer moving all morning lots of young deer and a few big doe. I had to be out early so at 830 I had a good size doe walking by me at 10 yards I put a rage through her back and out just past her leg Lung shot. She must have been stuffing herself because I got a little gut as well. She ran off and my shot felt and looked good, after waiting a bit I got down and checked my arrow and saw the gut on the arrow. My heart sank and a started beating myself up  how could I mess up a chip shot like that. I played the shot back in my head and thought no that was a good shot I made many shots like that before. I looked for blood and found a few drops not what I’m use to with rage but enough to track, after 30 yards I came out to a logging road and lost blood, I stood there and looked around to see the white belly of the deer in a ditch another 20 yards away. When I gutted her the shot looked good the arrow came out a little further back but not that far back. She has a extremely full belly and the gut sack was so full it was pushed up far, her gut sack clogged the exit wound the reason for a weak blood trail. I washed her out real good and everything looks good. Now I got meat in the freezer.

I never used Hartman’s and wanted to give them a try but the drop off ours were 5pm to 9pm that doesn’t really work for me and these temperatures. I took her over to A&m meats I called the number on the door left a message 10 min later I got a call back saying someone would be there in 10 minuets. 10 min later there they were. They have a clean looking setup and a very large walk-in freezer.

Someone mentioned before about Hartman’s having a after hours freezer but the message didn’t say anything about it?

Congrats.  Looks like you almost spined her

Almost I was pretty high up and she was only 10 yards so it was just about a straight down shot

Surprised he didn't answer. He has a day job.  Usually has the key nearby to put deer in cold box. Fill out all paperwork.  It's easy. Everything is clearly described.  They will call you later to confirm your order on how you want it cut up. Highly recommend. Turnaround time is usually 2-3 days.

I wasn’t sure if he was a full time butcher, the only reason I didn’t go was because the voice message didn’t say anything about a after hour freezer or I would have. I really want to give him a try, there will be more blood spilled then I will try him.
