An alligator was on the loose on a New Jersey street, near a highway, on Wednesday. A video also apparently captured the alligator as it was lurking in a neighborhood.

The animal is a 3- to 4-foot-long alligator who seen on Hamburg Avenue between Route 30 and Duerer Street, police said.

Police told residents that they should keep small pets inside their house.

Residents are urged to report any sightings to police dispatch at 609-652-2037.
