BHC
With the Federal Shutdown and the Federal Land closed I asked (ok I pleaded) with the owner of 40 acres I have access to but not allowed to hunt if I could just hunt until the shutdown is lifted, he said YES for now. So yesterday I got my climber and found a tree about 30 yards from my cam. Saw a doe and 4 pt and a bear. So just as I was going to climb down I see a hunter walking around, I could tell he isn't sure of where he is. So I get down and he was a nice guy, just out of the military, he just got permission from the the guy next door to access his land for the federal lands, I told him to be careful cause the land is closed to hunting as of now. He kept telling me how sorry he was for ruining my hunt, I assured him he didn't. I asked him if the guy next door hunted and if he shot any nice bucks, he told me he shot three nice bucks, one of which I got on my cam last year, a very wide 8 pt that would go around 123". Axiom
Ah yes.. It's the ol' "i'm a police officer", " fireman", " retired game warden", or " i just got out of the military" excuse... Just note though an active military man MAY NOT know what that is.. just ask them whats their m.o.s... the'll know Not sayin you should harrass anyone for trespassing.. He could have really just been lost. At the end the of the day were deer hunting and its not the end all be all. You did the right thing by being nice. People tend to lose sight of what huntings about. People get so focused on "I gotta get my deer at all costs" that they forget there are others out there just trying. You never know the neighbor may just invite you to hunt his property to now after being cool to the guy currently hunting his property. Me personally I don't get bent out of shape if someone wanders over or shoots a deer and its runs onto our property. Its just a deer and I help them get it out. trust me people remember that. They also remember if someone treats them like shit. PredaTorch.com Hot Estrous Doe and Other Deer Scent, Night Predator Lights

Axiom
yeah god forbid we show a little respect for those guys right...... well, A trespasser is a trespasser.. what difference should it make what they do or did do for a living?.. If we follow your logic, we should show respect to a cop robbing a bank But thats really not what my point was.. My point was some people lie and say they were or are something they arent or never were in order to get special treatment...And i just suggested a way to catch them in a lie.. Palawman30
well, A trespasser is a trespasser.. what difference should it make what they do or did do for a living My point is NOT everyone KNOWS they are trespassing and its NOT the end of the world if they did...its a damn deer hunt not the quest for a million pounds of hidden gold on your property. People truly do get lost sometimes. It happens. Its not the end of the world. We all live to fight another day and maybe you make a new friend. Gruntmaster
Who has not crossed property lines once or twice in their time in the woods, especially at night. I say give the guy a break too. If you see the same guy a second time then words should be said. NRA Life Member"From My Cold Dead Hands" I'm all for Gun Control...I use both Hands. BCsaw
Trespassing doesn't mean sh-t. Post your signs, cameras, videos, pictures, private property, whatever. Let the CO'S do their job, if they can catch them in the act. How much money is a trespass charge bringing in to your town? Do the math and realize people can come and go as they please. The corruption runs deep. Is trespassing a crime? Trespassing on to somebody else's land without a lawful excuse is an offence itself and is one of the rare forms of tort claims in which a claimant can bring a claim without having to prove any damage has occurred. However, it is not a criminal offence and so property owners must bring their claim in the civil courts.
