I saw there was a couple post on NJH From BACS about bowfishing the deleware and my friends just recently went on a boat and did well. Im Not shure were to get a set up. I mean can i use my normal hunting bow or should i get another one for bow fishing alone?

You can surely use your regular hunting bow, but if you can swing it...a dedicated bowfishing bow is the way to go...something that has a short axle to axle length as it generally works better on a boat. My Ruckus is 29" and it works well, Mike and Rich use the Mission Craze which works well too. This way you set it up with your choice of reel, rest, and arrow and then you don't have to mess with it again.

You can get most of what you need at your favorite sporting goods shop, Cabelas, Lancaster Archery, or the Bowhunters Superstore.

My son and I are hoping to try it this summer. He has a 14ft Jon boat set up like a bass boat, but only has a 8hp on it. Not sure that would be enough for the Delaware. Any suggestions for lakes around morris or Sussex that would be good for bowfishing?
