Just wondering what kinda set up you're using for sea bass? Headed out in the am to anchor up on the reef and just wondering how you would tie your rig up? And are you fishing with clam, squid, gulp or another bait?

I would go with a  strip of squid not to small, not to long. 3/0 hook should do. Could try clam if you have it but squid is the best. Never tried gulp so can't comment.  Good luck on the sea biscuits.

Standard Hi-Lo rig, sinker loop on bottom, two stand-off loops about six and twelve to fifteen inches above, 2/0/or 3/0 hooks. Clams first but I've caught them on squid, killlies, spearing, crabs, fluke belly and GULP of various kinds. I know guys who get them on diamond jigs but I have never tried it. Biggest one for me was caught on a squid head.

Thanks for the info guys

Got on the reef early and was only boat anchored up as the sun came up. Fishing was on fire and we had sea bass hitting gulp, clams and the jig. Biggest ones came on the jig and most of the fish were caught on clam. Nothing touched the peanuts we netted at the dock though. After about 20-30 minutes, however, my buddy got violently sea sick. He threw up breakfast and maybe some dinner from last night, then his chumming noises started getting other guys sick and we decided to head in after about a half hour.
