Not sure, I'm not a big moon phase guy. I remember reading an article years ago regarding the moon phases and the rut (although a different time of year) and deer movements were pretty consistent regardless of the phase from year to year. Are there any other surrounding factors in that area (residential, populated, etc) that could have effected them? If not, some days are just like that...deer seem to disappear...not the first time and won't be the last! :)

I have noticed  and seen in my experience that when there is a full moon the deer movement slows during shooting hours.  I believe its because the deer have been out all night eating and the full moon makes it much easier to see and feed.  I may not be right, but that is what I have noticed

Neither am I ... Nor do i think the barometric pressure has a whole heck of alot to do with deer movement either,  though there does seem to be a bit more moving around before a major storm system moves in..  But i cant argue with facts, and the fact is i've seen plenty of deer before yesterday so there may be some truth to what Rutting Buck said.. or as you pointed out, could have just been one of those deerless days... Did see one this morning.. got busted before the shot... :pout:

The theory is that deer are most active when the moon is at its highest point overhead and directly below.  During a full moon (and new moon) this would be during mid-day (noon) and midnight.

A lot of deer are in fact killed during mid-day when there's a full or new moon.

So Axiom missed the deer because he was at home snoozing midday huh?

Stayed out a little past dark to see if they were trying to be smart by coming in a little after dark but nothing showed up.. Bait pile gone this morning... a lone doe was hanging around about 7.30am today.. didnt get a shot...
