Smoke brine...Alternative for glass

I have trout that I'll be smoking soon, all the recipes that I've read call for using a glass bowl to brine the fish in. I don't have a huge glass bowl so I'm wondering what you guys use. Also, when you guys smoke trout do you cut them in half or do them whole? I'm not filleting them.

That's good to know, I couldn't understand why I couldn't use plastic. My heads are cut off but a lot of the pictures I see shows them cut in half... Thanks for the response
