I went up to add more corn, cause the damn bears and deer hitting it hard.......I got within 70 yards of the bait and I kicked off two bears, (see the last 2 pictures). I also have a new bear on camera a decent size with double ear tags. I didn't expect many pictures cause it was just Thursday I re-baited and switched out SD Cards, also some bear porn, and after the deed was done, the bear noticed the camera and realized they got caught :shock:

as long as we keep the bear hunt

I was thinking about this... bear permits go on sale beginning of September if I read that right from someone's earlier post. Now, how is the state going to cancel the hunt on short notice if they've already taken people's money? I realize they could give refunds but... knowing this state, I doubt they even have a system in place to offer refunds (the license system is very emphatic about no-refunds after you purchase any license or permit). Plus, think about out-of-state hunters who, after buying permits, made plans (hotel reservations, and the like) - you pretty much screw tourists if they cancel on short notice (after the permits are sold). So.... they would have to put the cancellation in motion before the permits go on sale, I would think.

If I had to guess, I think the hunt is going to continue - I say this after hearing about Murphy being surprised there is such a thing as the F&G Council (how the !@$# does a person running for governor partially on a platform of ending a hunting season and NOT know about the existence of one of the most important groups in the government involved in hunting regulations????). I think he thought the office of Governor had executive privilege to stop whatever hunting seasons he wanted, and that's why he said he'd stop it. Now he knows the Governor doesn't have absolute power, and he is pretty much stuck with a promise he made that he can't fulfill.

Anyway, that's my thinking on the matter, for what its worth (which is about $0). Sorry for the off-topic post.

Nice bears, BTW :) Just make sure to keep them up by you

They will not refund the $2 cause that is a application fee. Just like if you put in for a turkey permit and didn't draw it they don't refund the $2

I don't think that's how they were classified, at least not last year. In fact, they didn't even have a lottery last year. The digest says you are literally buying the permit (so it isn't an application fee, it is the permit fee). That is how I read it - see here: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/2017/bear_summary17.pdf where it says:

Quote

"The lottery for bear permits has been eliminated. All hunters (especially hunters who plan to hunt only in Segment B ) are strongly encouraged to purchase their permit(s) during the September—October sales period."

So you are buying the actual permit in September.
