Satellite Phone for Offshore?

Recommended Posts

I rented one from vzwsatellite.com  for a trip I went on. For the week was $69 plus tax and some other fees. Came out to $120. It was free incoming calls and $1.79/minute for outgoing calls. I turned it on and it had reception but I never ended up needing to use it but I had piece of mind knowing I had it. It came with the phone, various chargers, a carrying case and instructions on how to use it.

When I hunted in Africa, Alaska and Canada , I rented phones online from the satellite phone store. Never had any major issues. Buy your minutes in a package and buy a few more than you think you need. If your call is 1 minute 1 second that is 2 minutes. Keep that in mind. Overage on minutes can get expensive. I always bought the insurance to cover the phone and always kept it in a zip lock bag in case it got dropped in the water .

Also, I never used it , but its worth a look  https://www.findmespot.com/en/

Need some recommendations for a satellite phone to be used offshore fishing in the canyons. Can never be to prepared.

Ask Around The Marina Stores and what the offshore Charters use.
