Rutting Buck Posted June 10, 2018 Author Posted June 10, 2018 (edited) I was able to successfully cut 1 stringer this morning with the last piece of 2x12. I’m going to pick up a few more 2x12’s tomorrow and try to cut the remaining 7 stringers. My issue was I cut them incorrectly the first time. I had them all marked correctly my cutting is what sucked. This is my first time cutting stringers so I was due to screw up. I’m not a professional wood butcher by any means but the decking and railings turned out well. I built a 20x21 deck and used Trex deckboards & railings Edited June 10, 2018 by Rutting Buck Live to Hunt and BillW0323 2 "Your short on ears and long on mouth"

Rutting Buck Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Well this morning I got my game face on and kicked the stair stringers ass! I got it done and only had to scab in 3 small piece where I cut on the wrong side of the line. Only a few things left to do, install stair railing and lattice. That will go quick and this project will be over. I’m enjoying a few beer tonight out in my new deck for the first time. "Your short on ears and long on mouth"

Rutting Buck Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Thanks my wife admitted she had no idea of what it took to build a deck from the ground up. She estimated it to be a 1 week job for just me. I told her we can’t even talk right now.... JerseyJaysTaxidermy and 1957Buck 1 1 "Your short on ears and long on mouth"
1957Buck Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Don't know how it is by you But with The Building inspectors in my town, it adds more than a week between the depth of the footings to the Joists to the Final. Not to leave out the Lot Coverage approval from Zoning - Survey approval Plan approvals that were preconstruction 4 weeks added. When you DIY they have an attitude.
