Anyone else seeing any bucks without velvet? I saw an eight point tonight, all bone. Same guy that was in my Garden a month ago. Grrrr..

He's a nice one.

I saw a small basket 8 in hard horn over by you Sam.

Might be him. He was running with a much larger buck this summer, saw that buck the other night far away. Couldn't tell if he shed the velvet or not.

I had 7 bucks pretty much coming in together for the last 2 months and now that 5 of them are out of velvet, they don't seem to be grouped up as much and their pattern seems to have changed. Where they were showing up every 4 hours, now I'm only getting 1 or 2 of them on the camera once a day for the past week since they shed.

I have been seeing bucks both in and out of velvet. This a critical time for the bucks as they will start to seperate from their bachelor groups once the velvet is shed. The mature bucks will grow incresingly intolerant of other bucks. The shedding is the start of it all.

It's funny Mike, this particular buck was running with a much larger buck all summer. Now, the larger buck is missing and the 8 point was in my garden again last night. LOL

Man I haven't even seen a buck anywhere in over a week.

I'll be pulling some SD cards later this evening, but my buddy pulled his on the same property yesterday and our larger bucks he captured are out of velvet already.  Spikes still in velvet for the most part.  I'll know later tonight.  Either way, the cooler days are getting me pumped.  Even with the next 2 days of hot weather, it will be short lived and by Saturday I'll be in more than just a long sleeved camo t-shirt like last season.  No down coat, but 42 degrees in the morning calls for more than just a t-shirt.
