Barn Beams for great room

Im building a house and wanted to do some rustic type of exposed beams.

I found a guy on Crsigslist that tears down old barns out in western Pa.

I drove out a few months ago to look at a barn getting ready to come down.

I went back out last weekend with the trailer and hauled them home. Started cleaning them up with the power washer.

Very cool. I spoke with a wood supplier out in Trenton a couple months ago when looking for mantel wood and he told me it takes 1 year per inch of thickness to dry out naturally. Barn beams aren’t only cool looking but they’re nicely aged and bone dry with a ton of character. I have no doubt your use of them in the house is going to look amazing!

Tom, are you looking for another beam? One of my customer's just bought a house in Randolph, NJ and there's an old beam sitting on his basement floor. PM me if you're interested? They have no use for it. It's about 18 to 20 feet long.
