Nockturnal Nock at 40 yards

Does anyone use them. I have a three pack and just installed one on a broadhead arrow. Initally my arrows were flying low but then I noticed how they were pinching my D-loop on the string. Then I compared the nock throat and out area and found out the Nockturnals are a bit bulbis,in comparison to my standard nocks so I filed them down a bit and now am having them with a 4 blade Slick Trick Magnum hiting spot on at 40 yards.

BTW, be careful shaving down that nock, you don't want to weaken it and it breaking on you.

Thanks,good call on the nock. It did not dawn on me, but you are 100% correct. I will check them before shooting them again. My plan for them is to switch out a typical arrow as low light sets in while on stand and use an arrow with a Nockturnal nock for the last available light while on stand.

BHC, thanks man, guess you noticed the relatively flat arch that arrow has at 40 yards. The Experience is shooting 319 fps at 56lbs at 28" draw. She is a fantastic shooter...

I had poor luck with the Nockturnals, whether it was being loose in the arrow shaft and needing some glue, or poor longevity and resistance to being blood soaked. I bought some seemingly no-name lighted nocks off ebay which seem way better.

Which ones did you get?

 

I was at my local shop last night and was explaining to the guys how I modified my Nocturnals and they recommended a new brand called Ignitor. They come with an aluminum insert that goes into the back of the shaft and then you would insert the nock into that. To turn the nock off, you would just pull on the nock and it turns off. I did not buy them though. Waiting for someone else to try them...lol

I bought these per a recommendation from someone on NJH. They are a much harder plastic than the nocturnals and work great so far. I havent killed a deer with them yet as I just bought them this past month, but I can already tell I like them better. Someone on NJH also said they have been using them all summer for bowfishing and havent had an issue. They also weighed out very uniformly with almost no difference between one another.

As in do they fly and hit the same point on the target? 

Yes. I havent shot them past 30 yards yet tho, but I typically dont shoot much farther than that while hunting anyway.
