Wow that's unreal that Google would allow that to be published in their app store.

So many issues arise from even attempting to "mark" gun owners.

And how does this app become the identification of "unsafe" gun owners?  What does that say about our legal system if people are the ones identifying who and who isn't a "safe" gun owner?

The whole situation around that app is just plain bad...hopefully Google pulls it off their storefront.

Yeah basically you can create a "Gun-free" app to mark all the liberal households that don't have a gun...wonder how they'd feel about that.

I went to the developer's web site and was floored by what he's written.  He's very articulate but there are so many contradictions in what he's writing.  The App is more of an "NRA Member" locater than anything else.  There's a whole paragraph vilifying the NRA and its membership.  He also talks about remaining anonymous--but that's more for the person identifying a location than the people at that location.  There's a giant page describing that the tagger is and will always be totally anonymous and it gives the tagger tips on remaining even more anonymous.

However, the App designer warns people not to tag places with known organized crime links.  WTF?  You'd think that would be one of the first places you'd want to tag.  And I thought you were anonymous when tagging something?

Just reading through the site you realize that this is another angry, misguided, liberal dolt looking for attention.  He's set himself up for a massive lawsuit.  For example, I work out of my house and if any of my competitors decides to derail my business, they could tag my house and casually mention to my customers that I'm some radical, unsafe gun nut.  I couldn't prove my competitor did that, but I could definitely lose business and credibility from an App like this.  I would hire an angry NJ lawyer and crush this guy and his family for the next five generations.  I would definitely win in court.

*EDIT:  The guy is going to Open Source the app.  I am definitely going to come out with the "Gun-free House" App "To let concerned families know where safe houses are."  Can't wait for the liberal fallout on that one...

It is absolutely ridiculous...I'd imagine Google even opens themselves up for allowing that app in their storefront.  It's a huge invasion of privacy, and it's all based on suspected/anonymous reports?  Talk about a lack of credibility that could have severe impacts in a variety of ways.  Just a horrible, horrible idea.
