A Waste of Good Trout

Rusty

Recommended Posts

Someone has been catching trout out of the Wallkill River in Station Park, Sparta and releasing them into the Station Park pond.  This pond is shallow and warm.  As you can guess, the fish didn't last very long.  There were still one or two swimming around but the others were belly up.

"Bucket biology" has been the worst thing that has happened to freshwater fisheries the entire world over.  It will one day lead to only non-native species living in our local waters like grass carp and snakeheads to name but a few bad players.  Leave the stockings to the professionals and always make sure you get your proper stocking permits from the state before releasing any species into a waterway which could be affected negatively.

most likely kids as veteran anglers would know they wouldn't survive. Sounds like someone with a wish rather than a brain.  It's a shame

I'm sure you're right.

I couldn't agree more.
