Blackfish withdrawal

Those 10 and 12's look like boat anchors. Nice jig heads.

I dont fish anything conventional under the 10/12 even when less weight could be used .

All my rods are designed to fish that weight well .

But def can make alot more jig heads with same amount of lead.

I mixed black/ orange / white powder paint to make the brown .

Wanted these for fishing white leggers.

Have bunch green / with black specks for fishing greens

Nice. Your post just tells me how much I do not know about black fishing. I only did it a couple of times and I sucked at it.

It's an art form...  I have only been twice... First time Dan schooled everyone...  Second time - I tied him with "1"... lol...    Although I have to admit I foul hooked mine...

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…

Whole thing about catching black fish is understanding the bite.

They really are not the mystical fish many make them out to be.

But the bite you swing on is different depending on the technique your using .

When fishing a conventional dropper rig you need to feel through when they are just scratching, and set on the solid tug.

What for that same bite jigging and the crab will be long gone lol.

When jigging for them when you feel them messing with bait a slow lift of the rod will get them to take the bait harder and set the hook themselves.

They are great fighters on light tackle , and great table fare

One of my favorite saltwater species to fish for and it becomes very addicting. We went on Friday under less than favorable conditions and it was tough but still fun, caught lots of shorts but the keepers were scarce.

Really like those jigs they look great.

We fished friday also.

Due to high winds we fished pretty shallow off the beach.

We also caught way more shorts than keepers.

I had a limit, and the other 3 guys added another 6 to the box.

Keepers were mostly only 16" fish with a few 17".

Question about the jigs?

How heavy do you go?

Do you use them mainly in shallow water?

Do you hook the crab the same way?

Im fishing 1 1/2 oz and 2 oz in 35-55' of water.

And heavier than thst the hook sizes get too big for the togs mouth.

Hooking the crab through the leg sockets
