That's right… The Double Trouble Boys do it yet again….

Met up at 4:30am with my hunting buddies Willard and Derick, We set off to hit up another nice piece of woods this morning knowing that the STRUT is winding down up this way and our best bet would be split off and see if we could get on them fresh off the roost.

We split off as soon as we hit the woods to cover more ground. Willard took Derick with him and I went off the opposite way….I soon realized I was without a locater call… Left my hooter in the truck and my crow calls reed was wet and wasn’t working at all…

As I made my way around I tried my best to do an owl hoot without a call… didn’t seem to work out so will

As I got around to an area I knew birds roosted in and we actually took Derick’s bird out of last Saturday, I gave a few soft tree yelps… And there it was… not just one gobbler, but a double gobble from two birds about 50 yards apart… I quietly moved in and set up and worked the both of them till they were in a love sick tizzy…

Once they hit the ground it only took about 15 or 20 minutes to work them into about 20 yard and…. KABOOM !

No. 7 was off to Turkey Heaven…..

Willard also worked one off the roost that went quiet as soon as he flew down… Tagged my bird then met up with Derick and we walked our feet raw. In the end couldn’t get anything going.

Willard managed to pull another gobbler over 200 yards only for it to circle him, staying just out of sight.

So we called it a morning and headed to the check station…

Sweet! You're spending more time in the woods than the animals themselves! LOL

I got out Wednesday with Jon and we watched a gobbler breed a hen. Save some for everyone else! hahaha

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

Thanks Guys.... It's an over welling passion for hunting and turkey hunting in-particular that keeps me going even though I've been a virtual zombie for the last 4 weeks LOL...

Believe me just cause I tag a few don't mean any of them came easy.

I aint ashamed to say I worked my ass off to put just about every one of them in the freezer ;)
