BHC Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Maybe able to make it out Saturday, those that are turkey hunting this week are birds talking or more silent?
Drop Tine Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Been hit and miss so far this week... Up on the mountains in zone 6 things are winding down quickly... You can always get a bird or two to gobble but they're not responding or coming in strutting all that hot anymore. Edited May 16, 2013 by Drop Tine }}}--I certainly do chase New Jersey's BIG Bucks, BIG Birds, and BIG Fish--->Best Bow Buck to date; 2011 Gross; 142 6/8Best Gobbler to date; 2012 NWTF score of 77.5Best Northern Pike to date; 40" (Passaic River Pike )Best Muskie to date; (The hunt begins)
gobblergetter Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 They've been Gobble'n good on the roost but pretty quiet once they hit the ground....Good news is..The Older/Bigger gobblers are cruise'n for chicks, since the hens that have been keeping them company all season, are starting to sit. Drop Tine 1
Cousin Brown Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Been seeing & hearing a lot in Z5. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
GhostBear Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Still hearing them in zone 6, but like droptine says, they seem to be settling down, my buddy is still hunting and can get them to gobble on the ground but has to get real aggressive with calling but they still have a few girls with them, keep at it I bet you can get a bird to work after say 10am Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.
