Drop Tine Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Looking for feedback on the; Paternmaster 12ga Remington 665 Turkey CODE BLACK Product Description Patternmaster’s CODE BLACK TURKEY combines constriction with our patented "wad-stripping" technology that increases down range energy for greater knock down power. Plus, the unique “canoe porting” reduces recoil so hunters are back on target faster and the porting allows the use of ammunition containing a “flight control” wad where normal “ported” tubes and barrels are not recommended. CODE BLACK TURKEY will extend out the end of your barrel one and a half inches and tubes have been designed with a 0.075 constriction from barrel diameter for an expected Extra Full pattern and effective range between muzzle and 70 yards.http://patternmaster.com/products/5138_12ga_Remington__665_Turkey_CODE_BLACKI use a paternmaster classic on my 870 now and get good patterns out to 35 yards and further BUT it's not really a turkey choke as much as was designed for buck shot... So during the off season I'm looking to do several upgrades to tmy old turkey slayer 870 and going with a new choke with tighter patterning and further shooting capabilities is one of them, so any feedback on experience with this particular choke would appreciated....Thanks, Paul }}}--I certainly do chase New Jersey's BIG Bucks, BIG Birds, and BIG Fish--->Best Bow Buck to date; 2011 Gross; 142 6/8Best Gobbler to date; 2012 NWTF score of 77.5Best Northern Pike to date; 40" (Passaic River Pike )Best Muskie to date; (The hunt begins)
BHC Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Paul, I haven't tried it but I do have a Indian Creek for my Mossberg 835, and they do make it for Remington .665 I'm happy with it using a few different size/brands of turkey ammo http://www.indiancreekss.com/choketubes.html#strike For my New Remington 11-87 Super Magnum I got a HeviShot Choke .662 and will be trying the HeviShot Magnum Blend Ammo, I think CousinBrown uses this combo, and he seems happy with it http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item.asp?sku=00096450121 Edited May 9, 2013 by BHC

The CODE BLACK TURKEY says it's designed and recommended with ammunition like Hevi-Shot. That's one of the reasons I'm interested in it that and I've always had great results from patternmasters they make some great chokes... Figured I'd try and get some site feed back before I drop 100 beans on one... BowhunterNJ Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Paul, I'm not sure about the 870, or that choke in respect to turkey patterns, but it's definitely worthwhile to check out the Nitro choke recommendations: http://www.nitrocompany.com/pattern.htm Even if you don't go with their ammo, I've found other quality ammo to pattern very well with their choke recommendations (i.e. Winchester Xtended Range for example).
