Clamming Season Nov. 1 Navasink - Shrewsbury

Anyone planning on The season-opening.  If anything like last year it will be a banner season as Soft Shell Clams ( Piss Clams ) showed up last year as 3 " sizes and should be much bigger this season. 

The only problem is purging them.  Every trip was a Limit of all sizes. 

Senior Licence is Lifetime $2.00. 

Nov. 1 is a Wednesday perfect few Clammers racking. 

No need for the big rakes or a lot of equipment. I keep it simple. 

Note I clam Low tides only.

we don't have piss clams down this way just hard clams.was never a fan of the piss variety though......

When purged of any sand and steamed and seasoned with cut up Celery - Onion - Celery Seed.  The broth becomes a dip before dipping in melted butter. 

I remember the day they were $5. a bushel now close to $8. a pound.   

The broth can also be used in Clam Chowder.

Never knew they were not in southern waters.

I think last year or year before a guy drown in this spot because the incoming tide caught him in the middle of the river. Watch the tide and time and get out in time. I end up going there on a boat.
